European Showdance Champions - February 2015:
During February and March we took part in the European Showdance Championship in Spain. The whole competition was held over a week with a variety of competitions and dances contested individually, as well as the main pre-qualified Showdance championship. We are happy to report that we were crowned European Showdance champions with our "Pink Panther" inspired Showdance.
This competition was exceptional, as it brought together amateur and professional dancers to compete directly against each other. Also the phenomenal audience of over 5000 people made the event spectacular with support for couples of all nations.

World 10 Dance Champions - December 2014:
In December we travelled to Italy to dance in the WDC World 10 dance championship. The plan was to fly to Venice and then drive down to the competition venue in Lignano Sabbiadoro. However the day before we travelled our flight was cancelled due to striking Italian air traffic control! So, a few frantic phone calls later, we managed to re-route via Barcelona!!. We arrived safely the day before the competition ready to compete.
The next morning we were taken to the competition venue - a large sports hall that had been made to feel like a ballroom. Excellent organisation and a really helpful team meant all ran smoothly. A long day of dancing for all the different age categories, culminating with the flag parade and prize ceremonies in the evening. We had a really great time dancing and in our latin finals we even had Blackpool music!.
The final results came in after a nail biting few hours wait. This was the championship we had always wanted to win throughout our dance career. We have been close in the past, but this was our year. We were crowned World Champions!
On returning to the hotel we all decided to celebrate at the bar - only to find it was closed! We just celebrated in style on returning home to the UK!. A very exciting weekend that we will not forget!. Photos can be seen below: (additional photographs are available to view in the Galleries).

Filming for Andre Rieu - July 2014:
In July we were contacted and asked if we would like to perform for Andre Rieu. What an honour - any dancer knows and loves his waltz music and what a passion he has for his art. Andre was celebrating 10 years in the business with an anniversary concert. We were asked to be feature dancers for a video promoting the concert and to be shown during his famous "Blue Danube Waltz".
On a bright sunny morning we arrived for rehearsals at a London dance studio where everything was planned with military precision to the exact beat of music and we learned the film was to be shot "Flash Mob" style. Costumes were chosen for us, a blue ballroom dress for me to match the title of the song and everybody else in "day" clothes to suit the flash mob style.
Then we moved to the location - London Southbank, and all i can say is thank goodness for the British weather for once! Some of Andre's musicians were setting up ready to play live for the dancers who were to "appear" from the crowd and dance spontaneously. Though trying to be inconspicuous in a crowd with a ballroom dress on can prove challenging - so i was to wear a long black coat over my dress - again difficult to blend in on a sunny day with such a coat, but we managed!. The musicians struck up we took to the "floor" and had a great time dancing with a wonderful crowd.
The video from the day is available to view below or directly on Youtube. Photos can be seen in the Galleries).

World Argentine Tango Champions - March 2014:
During March we travelled to Poland to take part in the IDSA World Argentine Tango championship and the World Championship Open Poland. We flew to Warsaw and were taken on a limo tour of the city before being driven to the north of the country to a fantastic hotel complex in the Masurian Lake District. 3 Days of competitions kept us busy. The first night was the IDSA World Argentine tango qualifying heats. We achieved a 95.5% score meaning that we qualified for the following nights final "Duel". The final Duel included the competition tango, Tango Vals and a Milonga. It was a nail biting wait, but the final results came in and we were crowned World Champions. A celebration followed at the hotel cocktail bar!. We also danced in, and won the Ballroom & Latin American Polish Open championship. A very exciting weekend that we will not forget!. Photos can be see below: (additional photographs are available to view in the Galleries).

World Ballroom & Latin Championships - December 2013:
In December we took a trip to Disneyland in Paris to compete in the WDC World Ballroom & Latin American Championships. We were delighted to make the semi final in both competitions. Ironically placing 9th in both events, but receiving plenty of marks to the final from various judges. A great way to top off the year.

British National Championships - November 2013:
During November we made our annual trip to the National Championships in Blackpool. This year we entered both the Ballroom & Latin events and are pleased to report that we made the Final of the Ballroom, placing 6th and making the Semi final in Latin (placing 9th). We had some fantastic feedback from the event and look forward to coming back next year challenging all the way.

European Cup - October 2013:
During October we travelled to Austria to compete in the WDC World Cup Ballroom & Latin American Championships. The weather was a surprise, as we arrived to find thick snow had fallen around Innsbruck overnight, leaving a beautifully picturesque, but chilly landscape. The competition was fabulously run, and once again sponsored by Swarovski Crystal. We won the World Cup Latin championship and came 3rd in the Ballroom. To top off the weekend we paid a visit to Swarovski Crystal world, which was a magical journey into all things crystal and sparkly! A photo of the event can be seen below and additional photographs are available to view in the Galleries Ballroom or Latin.

September 2013:
During September we competed in a variety of competitions at home in England, but most had an added element of international competitors. Firstly the "Greater London championships", held this year at Cheshunt. We retained both the Ballroom & Latin American titles for a second year running. We were also presented with the "Steven Coote" Memorial Trophy for the best overall 10 dance Amateur couple. It was a great privilege to dance for this trophy and our thanks go out to all involved in running this competition.
The next major competition of the month was the UK Open Ballroom & Latin American championships, held at Effingham Park. This was a fantastic competition with couples attending from many different countries. We came 3rd in the Ballroom championship and 5th in the Latin championship.
The day after the UK championships was the Annual England  England V Holland  Holland team match, held at home. Once again, for the 4th year in a row we were asked to join "Team England" and once again, England remain the Champions.

England "England v Holland Ballroom Team Match" Holland - September 2012:
We were extremely happy to be asked to take part in the 27th annual England v Holland Ballroom team match during September. The event was held at Leatherhead leisure centre and was a great success. After and exchange of gifts by both teams and team captains, each couple competed in all 5 dances, with some fantastic dancing from both teams. After lots of friendly banter (including some attempted bribery to the judges by both teams!) an inter country partner swap was declared for one last quickstep! Eventually the winners were declared, and I am happy to report that England won. We are looking forward to a return match next year in Holland.

WDC AL World Championship 10 Dance Runners Up. World Ballroom & World Latin American Finalists 2012:
In January we returned to Kiev, Ukraine to take part in the 2012 WDC AL World 10 Dance Championship, the IDSA World Ballroom & Latin American Championships. 3 World championships in 2 days!.
This time the weather was freezing, with around 5ft of snow on the ground and the temperatures averaging -28 degrees with a wind chill making for an actual feel of -38 degrees! So to the competition, this time being held on top of an ice skating rink covered with rubber matting then the dance floor laid over the top.
Returning to attempt to gain a higher placing than last year in the World 10 Dance, we are happy to announce we achieved overall 2nd place, placing 2nd in 6 out of the 10 dances. We were extremely pleased with this result. There was a slight mix up with the prize presentations where they called us in 3rd place, the prize presenter Mr Donnie Burns MBE called a halt to the proceedings and asked us to step aside. They then apologised for the error and called us into 2nd position. Not bad to think you have come 3rd, to find out that you actually came 2nd!
The two individual Ballroom & Latin world championships were under the IDSA. We placed overall 4th in the IDSA World Ballroom championship, with our best marked dance being quickstep. The IDSA World Latin championship saw us placed overall 5th with our best marked dance being the Jive in which we placed 2nd.
All in all, a fantastic weekend and we are now world championship finalists in all 3 of the disciplines we dance, Ballroom, Latin & 10 Dance.
