"Strictly Come Dancing" Series :
Keep up to date with all the news and information on series 16 of the BBC's hit show Strictly Come Dancing.
Series 16 will air on BBC1 prime time, Saturdays, commencing with the launch show on Saturday 9th September.
The show will follow a similar format to previous series, this time with 15 couples taking part (8 female celebrities and 7 male celebrities).
BBC2 continues the "Behind the scenes" programme "Strictly Come Dancing - It takes two" presented by Zoe Ball. This show will air week nights 6.30pm - 7.00pm with a special hour long edition on Friday's.
The competition will initially air on Saturday nights starting in September. The first two weeks will see an accumulation of the scores, then the voting lines will be opened.
There will once more be a "dance off" where the two couples with the lowest scores after the judges & public votes are combined will have to perform again.
The judges will then make the final decision on the couple to leave the competition.
This year a new dance category has been introduced "Couples choice". The couples are allowed to choose one of three different styles:
- Contemporary - Think lyrical/balletic/modern.
- Street/Commercial - Think urban/commercial/pop.
- Theatre/Jazz - Think Musical theatre/burlesque/tap etc.
There will be one special performance live from the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

Luba Mushtuk, born in Russia, she has worked as assistant choreographer on strictly and has toured with "Burn the Floor".
Graziano Di Prima, born in Sicily, an Italian Latin champion, he has toured with "Burn The Floor".
Johannes Radebe, born in South Africa, and a South African Latin champion he has worked on the South African "Dancing with the Stars".
The Judges:
- Judge 1 - Bruno Tonioli (Choreographer)
Bruno is a top choreographer and has worked on countless films, plays, music videos, commercials, concerts, trade shows and TV shows.
- Judge 2 - Darcey Bussell (Ballerina)
Darcey is best known for her career as principal ballerina for the Royal Ballet.
- Judge 3 - Shirley Ballas (Pro Dancer/Judge)
Shirley, nicknamed "The queen of latin is a well respected professional dancer and coach. Multiple times British open, national and US champion.
- Judge 4 - Craig Revel Horwood (Choreographer)
Craig is a top theatre choreographer and received an Olivier Award for his work on the West End musical Spend, Spend, Spend.
- Replacement Judge - Alfonso Ribero (Actor)
Alfonso is best known for playing "Carlton Banks" in the US sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He also competed in Dancing With the Stars USA, winning series 19.

16th December:
- Stacey Dooley & Kevin Clifton are winners of SCD series 16, placing 4th in the judges scores, but winning the day with the public vote.
- The second placed couple were Ashley Roberts & Pasha Kovalev, placing 1st= in the judges votes, but the public did not agree. Third placed were Faye Tozer & Giovanni Pernice,
with fourth going to Joe Sugg & Dianne Buswell.
9th December:
- The Semi Final and the eleventh couple to go are Lauren Steadman & AJ Pritchard, placing 5th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public
vote along with Ashley Roberts & Pasha Kovalev. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
- Next week is the Final. All couples will dance a "Judges Pick" dance, followed by a showdance, then the couples favourite dance from the series. Then a final decision will be made.
2nd December:
- The tenth couple to go are Charles Venn & Karen Clifton, placing 5th= in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public
vote along with Ashley Roberts & Pasha Kovalev. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
- Next week is Semi Finals and the couples will dance 2 dances.
25th November:
- The ninth couple to go are Graeme Swann & Otile Mabuse, placing 6th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public
vote along with Ashley Roberts & Pasha Kovalev. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
- Next week is Musicals week.
18th November:
- The eighth couple to go are Kate Silverton & Aljaz Skorjanec, placing 7th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public
vote along with Graeme Swann & Otile Mabuse. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
- Next week the couples will dance a "competition style" Lindy Hop.
11th November:
- The seventh couple to go are Danny John-Jules & Amy Dowden, placing 9th in the judges votes, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public
vote along with Charles Venn & Karen Clifton. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
- Next week the show will be live in Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

vote along with Charles Venn & Karen Clifton. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
30th September:
- The first couple to go are Susannah Constantine & Anton Du Beke, placing 15th in the judges votes over the first two weeks, and coming in the bottom 2 after the public
vote along with Lee Ryan & Nadiya Bychkova. The judges decided that they were the weakest and were voted off.
- Next week is movie week.
22nd September:
- The first week is over and all celebrities have danced one discipline. Next week they are all back to dance the opposite discipline. Their scores will be added together over the two weeks
and they will go to the public vote to see who is the first to go.
9th September:
